Pavers and setts
Concrete and clay pavers suit brick houses and come in many colours and patterns. Tumbled and natural setts have a softer, older look. Both curve easily, ideal for circles and paths.
Permeable block patios
On clay, rain often has nowhere to go. A permeable block patio, with open joints and a free-draining base, holds water and lets it soak away slowly. On very heavy clay, it may need a pipe to carry excess water away.
Edges
Block paving needs solid edges to stop it spreading. We set edging in concrete so the patio stays tight.
Paths and borders
Block paving is a good way to edge a stone or porcelain patio, or to build a path that links the patio to the rest of the garden.
